Maureen A. Sweeney, PhD., CCC-SLP has over 30 years of experience working with children and adults with autism and related disorders. Along with being a partner and clinical director at Sweeney, Augustin and Associates, Dr. Sweeney currently serves as Co-President of the North Suburban Speech and Language Association and is an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University. She is a past-president and member of the board of Have Dreams, a nonprofit organization that provides after school and weekend programs for children with autism. Dr. Sweeney completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Northwestern University and has presented at many conferences such as the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association, the Illinois Speech Language and Hearing Association, and the North Suburban Speech and Language Association as well as at trainings including The Autism Project of Illinois TAP 3-Advanced Topics in Autism.

Carmen Augustin, M.S.W., L.C.S.W. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, receiving her degree from the University Of Illinois Jane Addams College Of Social Work.  She is a partner and clinical director for Sweeney, Augustin and Associates. She has over 30 years of experience working with children, teens, and  adults with ASD and other developmental disabilities and their families. Ms. Augustin is a RDI® Program Certified Consultant, receiving her training and supervision from Dr. Steven Gutstein and Dr. Rachelle Sheely of the Connections Center in Houston.  Ms. Augustin has presented at numerous conferences including AutismOne, Northern Suburban Special Education District and the International Fragile X Conference. Ms. Augustin is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of the Autism Society of Illinois.

   

Allison Graves Jellison, M.S., CCC-SLP has been a member of the team at Sweeney, Augustin, and Associates since August 1998. She received a Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences from Southern Illinois University and her Bachelors of Arts from DePauw University in Elementary Education. Allison is trained in PROMPT, Lindamood Bell’s Visualizing and Verbalizing, Programming in Word Finding, Theraplay, Oral-Facial Myology and the SOS Approach to Feeding.She also develops individualized intensive home-based and in-clinic Block Therapy™ programs.

Fran Shapiro, M Ed, Ed S, NCSP, is a nationally certified school psychologist. She received her degrees at Harvard University and National-Louis University in Evanston, IL. Ms. Shapiro joined Sweeney, Augustin & Associates in 2003. She provides individual, group and family therapy as well as school and community consultation and training on issues impacting students with disabilities. Ms. Shapiro has a strong background in relationship development and has received training in 1-2-3 Magic, motivational interviewing, diagnosis and treatment of attention and executive function issues, visually enhanced therapy, and promoting school success. 

   

Alyson Horowitz, M.A., CCC-SLP has been a member of the team at Sweeney, Augustin, and Associates since January 2007 and a clinical supervisor since February 2011. She received a Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from Northwestern University. Alyson is trained in PROMPT, Lindamood Bell’s Visualizing and Verbalizing, The Hanen Program for Parents, The Affect-Based Language Curriculum, Theraplay, Oral-Facial Myology and the SOS Approach to Feeding. She is also a Fast ForWord provider and develops individualized intensive home-based as well as the in-clinic Block Therapy™ programs.

Kimberly Schoeck, M.A. CCC-SLP has been a member of the team at Sweeney, Augustin, and Associates since September 2010. She received a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University and dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication Arts and English from Trinity Christian College. Kimberly is trained in PROMPT, Theraplay, and the SOS Approach to Feeding. She also develops individualized in-clinic Block Therapy™ programs.

   

Siris Rivas, M.A. CCC-SLP received her Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a dual Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Learning Disabilities at Northwestern University. She joined the Sweeney, Augustin, and Associates team in June 2010. She has been trained in PROMPT and PECS. She was born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico and is bilingual in Spanish and English.

Rachel Meyer B.S. received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Communication Disorders from Northern Illinois University. She has worked in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders for over ten years and has a diverse background in providing services to individuals with special needs. She has experience providing classroom support and has run individualized intensive home-based programs. She is trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding. Rachel directed the first Summer Intensive Therapy program at Sweeney, Augustin & Associates in 2007 under the supervision of Dr. Maureen Sweeney. She has trained teachers internationally and is the director of all Block Therapy™ Attention programs at SAA.
