The speech and language pathologists at Sweeney, Augustin and Associates are a highly trained group of professionals with expertise in many areas including auditory processing disorders, executive functioning disorders, pragmatic language disorders, specific language impairment, oral and verbal apraxias, feeding disorders, oral motor issues, phonological disorders, and the learning issues that are secondary to autism. We employ innovative methods to facilitate the growth necessary to assist our clients in reaching their goals as quickly as possible. We are certified and/or trained in many effective methods for therapy and diagnosis including but not limited to: Orofacial Myology, PROMPT, Sequential-Oral-Sensory Approach to Feeding (SOS), Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing, Theraplay, SCERTS, The Hanen Program for Parents: It takes Two to Talk, and The Affect-Based Language Curriculum (ABLC). The primary tenets of RDI® (Relationship Development Intervention) inform all of our therapy.

Sweeney, Augustin and Associates prides itself on the relationships our therapists develop with their clients. We firmly believe that the quality of interaction that emerges from ever deepening relationships leads to an increased rate of improvement in therapy.
In addition, research has demonstrated that intensive intervention is required to effect significant neurological change and growth. We, therefore, emphasize positive intensity wherever possible by including parents in our sessions, providing activities for home, and interacting with school speech and language therapists as well as other outside providers as therapeutically indicated.
Unique to Sweeney, Augustin and Associates are Block Therapy™ and Speech Intensives which are designed to maximize the impact of therapy for effecting neurological change. During Block Therapy™, our clients attend therapy for two-hour blocks, five days a week, for six weeks. Each block consists of a combination of attention therapy, speech and language therapy, and for some clients, computer-based language intervention. Speech Intensives, on the other hand, are implemented by the family and their home team in the child's or adult's home over a period of 3 to 6 weeks. The primary purpose of the Speech Intensives is to increase the use of spoken language within social interactions. We have had significant success running both our Block Therapy™ and Speech Intensives.
