Social Reciprocity

Our social work Blocks primarily focus on social reciprocity.

Therapists employ a dynamic, relationship-based approach with an emphasis on utilizing the relationship to learn and self-regulate. We provide ongoing coaching and support to parents/caregivers, and their involvement is highly encouraged to support generalization across settings.

Sessions may be one hour in length or may be combined with speech and language therapy and/or attention intervention. Goals are based on individual needs but may include:

  • Joint attention

  • Experience sharing

  • Being guided by an adult

  • Managing uncertainty

  • Perspective taking

  • Flexible thinking

  • Addressing anxiety

  • Decreasing rigidity

  • Managing reciprocal engagements
